Gazebo planned for CWA’s 90th

Planning for the site of a new gazebo: CWA members Heather Starr, Del Healey and Leigh Ramage with Wendy Mulligan from the Garden Club
02nd Aug 2022

A new gazebo will be built in McKIe Park as a lasting memorial marking 90 years of service to the Guyra community by the Country Women’s Association.
Members of the Guyra CWA last week met with Wendy Mulligan and David Kanaley from the Guyra Garden Club to discuss the location for a proposed gazebo.
A site was agreed just south of the existing Guyra Garden Club’s Garden adjacent to Bradley Street/Lagoon Road near the Sandon Street turnoff to the New England Highway.
The proposed gazebo site has great views across the golf course and longer distance views over the Mother of Ducks Lagoon. It also has middle distance views over a dam used during TroutFest. There are trees nearby for shade in summer.
Importantly, it also avoids impacting on Armidale Regional Council’s water, sewage and drainage services as well as NBN cable services.
The CWA, with support from the Guyra Garden Club, has asked to meet with Council staff to progress this important addition to Mckie Park.
The CWA is providing all the necessary funds to purchase a 3.5m wide gazebo and to have it installed. The contribution of the Guyra CWA to the community is acknowledged and appreciated.
The gazebo once erected will be a valuable asset which can be enjoyed by everyone  - locals and visitors alike for many years to come.
