Live music and theatre this week

The Australian Poetry Hall of Fame is hosting a number of events this week. Thursday, May 26th Glenn Skuthorpe is appearing with Lainie Jamieson. With six highly-regarded albums and music featured in movies and documentaries such as The Emu Runner and John Pilger’s Utopia, Nhunggabarra, Kooma man and international touring singer-songwriter Glenn Skuthorpe is a powerful lyricist and composer who gives voice to those whose stories must be heard. He is a compelling performer whose playing style is captivating, engaging audiences in the stories behind his journeys.
Glenn has performed on stages big and small with some living legends in his long career including Buffy Sainte-Marie, Steve Earle, Tex Perkins, Kev Carmody, Archie Roach, Rory McLeod, Michelle Shocked, Buddy Miller and Mary Gauthier. With his seventh album on the way and a string of highly successful tours, prepare for an infusion of genres with vibes of urban street blues to open plains and wide open skies. Sunday evening, the 29th of May Arts North-West Pocket Productions presents a cabaret, The Soul Express with Laura Zarb. This one-hour cabaret is filled with humour, original songs, a belly dance break and even a sneaky strip down to underwear!
A show about self-love and acceptance, audiences are taken on a ‘train journey’ as Laura Zarb addresses the pressures of perfection, anxiety and life in our modern day, technologically fuelled world. Also this week, Wednesday Words Open Mic Poetry Night is from 6:30pm every week. On Saturday morning the Guyra Farmers and Craft Market is from 8:30am to 12:30pm. This is the only indoor and weekly market in New England and this week the Guyra Masons is holding a fundraising sausage sizzle from 9am. New stall holders are always welcome.
