Caspers take on Glen Innes

16th May 2023

The 1st and 2nd grade teams both travelled to Glen Innes to take on the Highlanders at Wilson Park over the weekend. The highway was bumpy, the field was bumpier still, but the bumpiest of all was the start made by the 2nd Grade Caspers.
After a shaky first half, the Caspers found themselves
down by 1 due to a Matthew Simpson-esque cross by the Glen striker that somehow floated into the goal. Guyra recovered well and equalised through an actual Matthew Simpson piece of magic that landed the ball in the back of the net. The game finished a 1-1 draw, a fitting result.
In the 1st grade, it was the Highlanders that started the game on the back foot. They found themselves a player down early in the first half when one of their players had a little too much advice for the referee and was shown a red card for dissent.
The Caspers generally dominated the game and went on to win 6-2, with Charles David scoring a hat-trick and Tony Dittman, Tyson Burey and Corby Kliendienst also keeping the scorers busy with a goal each.
Home round this weekend so come around and watch the soccer.
