Soccer season coming to an end

On Saturday, September 3rd the Guyra United Soccer Club held their last home round of the regular season followed by Junior presentations and old boys day. It was a day of rain and cold weather but we thank everyone for coming out and braving the cold.
Under 10s Player’s player went to Kayne Brennan, Under 12s Player’s player went to Eli Mcginty and under 14sPlayer’s player went to Jack Soraghan.
The under 12s Spirits received the David Martin Team of the Year trophy for their improvement and sportsmanship throughout the year. Shane and Jess Brennan received Club Person of the Year award, every week they go above and beyond to help out the club and we appreciate it very much.
Congratulations to the award recipients and another massive congratulations to the Under 12 Spirits, Under 14 Ghost, 2nd Division and 4th Division for making the semi finals this week.
Old boys day was a huge success with a lot of old faces present to watch our senior teams compete for their place in the semi finals. Second division had a 7 - 2 win over East Armidale finishing 3rd on the ladder with a home semi final this weekend. Fourth Division had a 2 - 1 loss finishing 2nd on the ladder.
Junior Semi finals games this weekend are:
Under 12 Spirits vs DK Knockets at 11:15am Guyra Recreational Grounds
Under 14 Ghosts vs TAS White at 10am TAS Adamsfield
The winner out of both Junior games will compete in the grand final on Saturday, 17th September 2022, time and venue to be advised.
Senior semi final games this weekend are:
Guyra 2nd vs Demon Knights at 1pm Guyra Recreational Grounds, must win for the 2nd Grade Caspers.
Guyra 4th vs Armidale City Westside at 1pm Harris Park.

Also a huge thank you to our junior coaches Felicity Williams, Casey Lennon, Elizabeth Rosser, Stephen Kliendienst, Mitchell Hope, Dennis Kraan and Michael Colvin - you volunteer your time every week and we all appreciate you giving up your free time to coach our children.
Thank you also to the parents for bringing their children to the games every weekend this year we have a had a lot of cold miserable days but you all still show up. A massive thank you to the committee members who volunteer their time and work as hard as they do to keep this club running, your job is not easy at times but it shows what a great job you are doing just by looking at how successful our club is!
Goodluck to all teams in the semi finals this week, it’s amazing how such a small town can be so competitive in Soccer!
