Good field for Golf Open

Guyra Open Club Champion Michael Purvis
14th Oct 2025

Before I get started on the weekend’s golf I must begin with apologising to our major sponsors Elders. I mentioned them only once as we were running through presentations quickly to give time for the visiting players to get home.
We deeply appreciate your continued support and generous sponsorship of one of our major events every year. Elders have been kind sponsors for many years now and we hope they are on board for years to come. So to all the Elders crew THANK YOU.
Now onto the Golf. A good field took part in our Guyra Open on Sunday in beautiful weather. Scoring was a challenge with the course proving difficult to conquer.
C Grade was very competitive, but the gross winner with a score of 94 was Trent Mendes and the nett winner with a score of 69 was Peter Gregory, one of our visitors from Bundarra.
B Grade was very close in all scores, but the gross winner was Scott Mendes with an 84 and the nett winner was Tyson Burey with a score of 75.
The A Grade was a large field and the nett winner with a score of 78 was Darrin Towells, which leaves the Guyra Open Club Champion for 2025 and this year’s winner Michael Purvis with a score of 77 which was a very good score for the day.
Nearest the pins were 7th - Adam Brennan and the 10th - Mick Purvis and the Longest Drive on the 17th - Mick Purvis.
A special thank you to Sammy for keeping the kitchen open on the day - it was much appreciated by all the golfers.
Now the course is fully open we are asking all the players in the men’s matchplay must have the 1st round played by Sunday 2nd November, this gives everyone 3 weeks to get your matches played.
This weekend is an individual stableford in conjunction with the Monthly Mug. Hope to see you on the course.
HAPPY GOLFING
