A very successful Guyra Silvershears show shearing event was held again this year, with a great roll up of 48 shearers travelling from Victoria to Central Queensland to compete.
Organiser Bruce Reeves has thanked the many sponsors, mostly small local businesses and farms, for their continued support year after year.
Many thanks also to the shearers and draggers who donate their time and skill to shear around 400 rams on a Saturday morning to raise the prize money for this event. Special thanks to the graziers for keeping the rams dry.
Thank you to our small but mighty committee for organising and running a seamless event, and to the judges, roustabouts, penner-uppers, scorer and timekeepers for their efforts on Saturday. Thank you also to those who helped with the crutching of the sheep on the Sunday morning the weekend before the show.
A big thank you to Wayne and Lorraine Jenkyn for the supply of the sheep, to Trevor and Deidre Tarrant for the supply of the truck to cart the sheep to and from the show, and to Phil Saunders for driving the truck on the day.

A lot of volunteered time goes into organising and running this event, and to see the large number of shearers who continue to turn up, along with the impressive crowd who support it all day, makes it all worthwhile. A massive thank you to our committee.
In the Novice section, first place went to Dustin Hilton of Texas, second to Riley Hutchison of Curban, third to Hugo Brazier of Guyra and fourth to Tom Lockyer of Guyra.
The Intermediate title was taken out by Ryan McIntyre of Glen Innes, with Stephen Rodda of Inverell finishing second, Aaron McMaster of Quirindi third and Bobby Chard of Ben Lomond fourth.
In the Senior event, Jacob Carmody of Rye Park claimed first place ahead of Tess Woods of Parkes in second, Justin Fornasari of Uralla in third and Choppo Schoff of Chinchilla in fourth.
The Open final saw Guyra’s Jeremy Newberry take top honours, followed by Luke Foster of Guyra in second, Wil Stanley of Boorowa in third and Jack Lockyer of Guyra in fourth. The Harry Williams Memorial Trophy for the local shearer with the best quality points was awarded to Luke Foster
