Mixed results for Caspers against Uralla

05th May 2026

The Senior Caspers travelled south this weekend to take on the knitted cardigans of Uralla United.
First up was 4th grade, with Guyra looking to build on the solid performances of the last few games. Uralla were a couple of players short at the start and even had a young kid filling in, who appeared to only be between the ages of 6 and 9.
Guyra started well and opened the scoring through a rampaging Lincoln Brown. Guyra’s celebrations were muted, as they knew there was more to do.
It was at this stage that Uralla brought on reinforcements with one of their 3rd grade players joining the game up front and kicking a hat-trick of goals before half time. Uralla scored again just after the break, making it 4-1.
Lincoln kicked his second goal shortly after as the Caspers got their second wind, and continued to play hard right to the end. Alas a Guyra hat-trick was not forthcoming, with the final score being 4-2 to Uralla.
In 3rd grade, the Caspers were taking on a renewed Uralla outfit after they rejoined the 3rd grade competition after a few years out. The Caspers were a few short this week and were thankful to have a few of the 4ths players backing up, including Ash Holt who played 180 minutes across both games.
The 3rd grade started at a frenetic pace, with both teams trying to get on the front foot to gain the ascendency. Guyra scored first, with Aidan Brown making it a memorable day out for the Brown Brothers and putting one in the back of the net through one of his many well timed runs at goal.
The middle part of the game proved to be a tight contest, but the Caspers were able to apply pressure at key moments by holding the ball and maintaining possession.
The Caspers next two goals came off the sparkling left boot of Rob Starreveld, giving much needed hope to the farmers out there that when it rains, it might just pour. Adam Litherland tried hard to leave his mark on the game, but with ageing legs could only manage to do that literally, taking a large chunk of dirt out of the Uralla pitch, providing some comic relief towards the end of the second half.
The ever reliable Angus Hickey then shepherded in yet another Guyra goal to bring the final score to 4-0 to the Caspers, who now sit at the top of the table.
Next week the Caspers take on Westside White at home in the 3rd grade, while 4ths have the bye.
