The senior footy season is over for Guyra after the Spudettes were bumped out of the leaguetag premiership on Saturday when beaten by Moree in the minor semi-final at Uralla.
It was a day in which the Guyra girls created a lot of chances but couldn’t convert them into points.
Moree started strongly and raced to a 12-nil lead before Guyra had the first of its near misses when Taneika Dailey had a try from a kick disallowed.
Further clean breaks and attacking sets went the same way as halftime arrived with no change to the score.
Things became much harder early in the second half when the Boomerangs scored twice more to push the lead to 22-nil.
Dailey pulled one back for Guyra when she chased her own kick and touched down.
Guyra then had several other great chances to score but were repelled each time and, instead, Moree went down the other end and sealed a 28-4 win.
Captain-coach Danielle Sutton was named players’ player and earnt three club points, while the other points went to Kiarna Landsborough (2) and Dailey (1).
The next event for the club is presentation night, which will be held at the community hall from 5.30pm on Saturday, September 13.
Tickets are on sale at the Guyra Hotel for $40 and include a two-course meal and entertainment.
