Spudettes step up to tackle footy

Spudettes skipper Danielle Sutton finds space against Tingha
10th Jun 2025

The long weekend gave the Super Spuds a week off, but some of the Spudettes decided to step up for a game of tackle footy in Inverell.
The Group 19 women’s tackle gala day saw teams representing Guyra, Narwan and Tingha with players from Inverell and Uralla also involved.
Tingha dominated the day, but it was good experience for Spudettes Taneika Dailey, Danielle Sutton, Charlie Ward, Sophie Mitchell and Katie Ahoy, who lined up alongside Inverell locals in the team playing in Guyra colours.
The group will choose a tackle team to play in the Northern Division trials next month.
Meanwhile the Super Spuds and Spudettes will return to action this Saturday with their biggest trip of the year to Moree to face the Boomerangs.
Both games are important for the top four hopes of the Guyra sides.
At the halfway point in the season, both Guyra teams are running fourth with a similar record.
The Super Spuds have three wins and three losses with one draw, while the Spudettes have four wins and three losses.
