Guyra girls finish season on a high

Guyra Junior Rugby League has celebrated a memorable season, with the club’s Intermediate League Tag (ILT) side the only Guyra team to make it through to a Grand Final.
The Under 16s and SLT teams were knocked out in the final rounds, but the ILT side continued its strong campaign to earn a place in the season decider.
They finished their season on the weekend with a hard-fought Grand Final, going down 8–4 after taking the field with just 10 players and no interchange players.
Despite the result, the girls produced a determined performance, competing throughout the game in challenging heat and giving everything they had from the opening whistle to the final siren.
The club praised the girls for their courage, determination and resilience throughout the season, as well as coach Braidie Vidler for her commitment and encouragement.
“Our girls didn’t come away with the win today, but we couldn’t be any prouder of them! In our eyes, these girls are winners no matter what that scoreboard says!
“They went out there today and played their little hearts out – they attacked, they defended, they chased, they tagged and they never gave up.
“Today was never just about the result. It was about the journey they have been on, the challenges they have faced, the way they have stuck together and the way they have continued to turn up and give it their all.
“They should be so incredibly proud of themselves and everything they have achieved this season.
“Girls, you have made your club, your families, your coach and your supporters so incredibly proud. You left absolutely everything out there today, and there is nothing more anyone could have asked of you.”
The Grand Final result capped off a season in which the girls showed plenty of heart, with their effort and commitment earning plenty of praise from their families, coach and supporters.
Guyra Junior Rugby League has thanked all players, coaches, families, volunteers and supporters for contributing to a “great, fun-filled and positive football year”.
The club will bring the season to a close with its Presentation Day this weekend, providing an opportunity to recognise the efforts and achievements of players and coaches across the club.
