Veterans Annual Open Day

Last week the Guyra Vets ran their Annual Open Days. Monday saw over 50 players compete in a Four Ball Stableford. The winners were Phil Devlin and Col Walls with a score of 44 points. Runners up also with 44 were Wendy George and Debbie Heffernen. The longest driver for the ladies was Pip White and the men David Lyes. Nearest the pins went to Wendy George on the 7th, Pat Fulford from Sydney on the 9th. On the 10th was Barry Craze, also from Sydney, and the 18th, Paul Hemming, Brisbane.
On Tuesday the Open Individual Stableford was played with over 60 players. A Grade winner was Craig Hulls from Glen Innes with 38 points and runner up, Gordon Dean from Inverell with 33.
B Grade was taken out by David Carr from Goondiwindi on a count back with Col Walls, both on 35. Len Stanley with 36 won C Grade followed by Don Campbell on 34.
It took another countback to separate the ladies, with Andrea Swemmer winning from Pip White. Both ladies scored 30 points.
The ladies’ longest drive was Cheryl McDonald, Walcha, and the men’s went to Ian Taylor.
Nearest the pins were Greg Constantine from Armidale on the 7th, Jenny Rogers the 9th, Ian Swanston from Glen Innes on the 10th and Gordon Dean, Inverell, the 18th.
