Wins all round for cricketers

The Guyra Cricket Club is having a great season and the weekend’s round of games saw a clean sweep with victory in all games.
The first-grade side were at home on Ted Mullligan Oval against ladder leaders City/UNE. Their opponents won the toss and batted first, with Guyra’s bowlers keeping the scoring in check.
They dismissed City/UNE for 139 in the 30th over with Mitch Woods 3/16. Matt Finlay 3/22 and Joey Ryan 2/11 the best with the ball.
It took Guyra just 28 overs to surpass this total for the loss of eight wickets. Shane Wolfenden 29 and BJ Cameron 24 topped the scoring for Guyra.
The win sees Guyra equal second on the ladder with Easts on 35, just behind City/UNE on 38.
In second grade Guyra defeated TAS in a top of the table clash. Tom Smith played his first game for the year and managed a handy 83, while Jake Davies was in form to reach 148 in Guyra’s total of 7/362.
TAS batted well but were unable to reach the same heights being all out for 238 in the 42nd over.
Heath Dowsett took 3 wickets with Justin McKay, Corey Torrens and Andrew Boyle taking 2 each.
Second grade are second on the points table with 40 points, just behind TAS on 41.
In third grade, Guyra defeated City UNE in the final round of the T20 competition.
City/UNE batted first making 7/118. Simon Brown was the best with the ball taking 3 for 19.
In reply, Guyra just sneaked ahead to finish the day on 6/121 in the 19th over.
This puts them on top of the table and sees them through to the final of the T20 competition to be played against Ex Services on February 9th (weather permitting).
