The Under 6 Phantoms hosted the Westside Koalas in Guyra this weekend. The koalas arrived a little late, so the Phantoms had a warmup game against the Adults which was a fun way to kick off our Saturday morning. Once the Koalas game got going, the Phantoms did really well with all the skills we have been practicing at training and put together some great kicking, chasing and tackling.
Under 6 Caspers had a fantastic game today, every one coming together and really played like a team. All players put a lot of effort into using all their skills this week, lots of passing, setting up goals and great defence. Awesome work!
The Under 8 Goosebumps played Armidale City Dolphins in a home game on the weekend. Guyra played well in defence and Thomas and Eli made some great saves as goal keepers. Guyra was unlucky in attack with shots on goal just going wide.
This week the Under 12s took on the top of the table West side team at home. Guyra started very well and are really passing the ball around. Wasn’t too long and Oskar slipped one past the goalie. West side hit back to go 1-1 at half time. Wests came out hard and fast and caught Guyra napping just after the break with 2 quick goals. But the Guyra team showed good spirit and dug deep to score some very well setup goals one to Harry and the other to Pete. With the score drawn up, a late push from wests and slight mix up in defence saw an own goal by the home side. Final score 4-3 to Wests. In what was a quality game by all the Guyra kids are really starting to play some wonderful soccer. All the kids are playing their part and combining well. Stand outs this week were hard to pick with so many kids playing out of the skin. Matthew in defence. Oskar and Charles in midfield. Harry and Pete in attack.

Under 14s travelled to Uralla in the only away game for the round. The side went down with only 9 players to face a 13 man Uralla team. With everyone putting in 110% for Guyra it wasn’t looking good when Uralla opened the scoring in the first half to take a 1 to 0 lead. Guyra a bit of teamwork from the Guyra halves and forwards Taharn managed to put one into the net for the Guyra side. This was soon followed by a second goal from Kayne to take the lead to 2 to 1 for Guyra. This is how the game ended with Guyra’s legs wearing out in the second half they managed to hold off the Uralla attack and take a hard earned win.
