Men’s Bowls

Saturday July 18th saw three Club Championship Games played. In a Semi Final of the Open Singles John Jackson played Col Stanley, this game was played in the manner that a Semi Final should be played however the scores did not tell the closeness of the contest. Col ran out 31 shots to 13 shots over 28 ends.
In Handicap Singles: Robert Walls (+1) played Mallie Walls (0). Robert won the first four ends opening a small lead one that Mallie was unable to overcome and Robert went on to win 31 shots to 22 shots over 34 ends. The second game of Handicap Singles was between Andrew Sparke (-2) and Roger Cox (+2). Roger took advantage of the 4 shot start and by end 5 he held a 7 shot lead. Andrew never lost sight of the final objective and by end 11 had taken the lead one that did not last long however Roger then took the next 2 ends and a slender lead only to lose the next 7 ends, Andrew held Roger at bay until end 29 when the scores were again level Andrew again drew ahead but Roger was not about to give in just yet and by end 37 the scores were again even at 29 shots all. With either player only wanting 2 shots to win Roger held the next end only to see Andrew play 2 of the best bowls seen played in a long time drawing the 2 shots wanted with his last 2 bowls, taking the win 31 shots to 29 shots over 38 ends.
