The under 16s had a rematch with their first-round opponent East Armidale. This game showed how far they have come as a team this season from what was a whitewash in the first round from Easts, to a very competitive game this round.
Guyra’s defence frustrated the Easts attack, seeing them miss a number of opportunities. What was most pleasing to see, was the number of opportunities that Guyra was able to create with their own attack.
The Under 12s played an under manned Demon Knights. After stealing a linesman from another game to referee, the game started and Guyra applied the pressure early scoring through Noah Brennan. Good keeping skills from Lachlan Colley seen DK kept scoreless in the first half. The second half was more pressure from Guyra which saw them take away 5-1 victory.
Under 10s took on Walcha in Armidale, the commitment from this team is outstanding as each week they play against older teams, with half Guyra team only been 9yo. The match saw one of the Walcha players with a huge boot, which put all the Guyra defence on notice. They were able to withstand a lot of the pressure and create their own chances.
The Under 8s have been boosted in the back half of the season with their new team member from Sydney. This weekend they took on South Armidale, their teamwork and developing skillset saw them easily get through and score a number of goals.
I hope everyone enjoys the two-week break and comes back to finish the season strong.
