Under 6 Caspers had a tough but great game against DK, every single player did a great job in defence all of them are really putting in more teamwork and really thinking about their position to score goals.
The Under 6 Phantoms took on the DK Longbows this weekend in Armidale and had a great game. All our little Phantoms are showing improvement and the girls in particular did well on Saturday. Ava Lockyer kicked some more fantastic goals and Lani Vidler’s practicing is starting to show with some excellent kicking, dribbling and tackling. There are rumours that some fast food bribery may have been used, and to great success. I’m loving’ it!
The Under 7 Spooks had a great game against Walcha. The team are starting to gain an understanding of field positions. Some great goals were saved by some good defence. All of our team try their best and are improving each week.
The Under 8 Goosebumps played Uralla in Armidale on Saturday. Guyra had a great game everyone played well in defence not letting Uralla have too many shots on goal. Orlando played well in attack having a couple good runs with the ball dribbling past Uralla’s defence. Vinnie was the team’s goal scorer.
Under 10 Phoenix played Uralla on a very muddy Armidale field. The team showed great sportsmanship with players happy to play for Uralla to make up their team. The team played very well, with some great defence, tackling, and one on one runs. The second half was very much in our favour but couldn’t find the net, a real nail-biter. Well done team.
Under 12s played DK at home this week. High off their big win last week the team started very positively knocking the ball around well. In a bit of a sleepy moment Guyra got caught out and DK were able to get the lead. Guyra fought back and were on the attack when Harry was brought down in the box. He was unlucky not to score from the dot hitting the post instead. Guyra kept forcing forward and finally Pete knocked one in to go 1-1 at half time. 2nd half started the same very positive play with some big break away runs. Finally Chaise, Oskar combined and Harry finished with a good strike. DK pushed hard but the defence held strong. 2-1 final score. All team members played extremely well this week. Special mentions this week Noah, Miles in defence. Charles in midfield. Well done
In what continues to be a tough season for the Under 14s on the score board against more experienced Armidale sides the newly formed Guyra side continues to build. This was no different on Saturday when they took on North Armidale in Guyra. There was some nice play in patches where Guyra was on top of Norths but couldn’t land a goal on the back of their pressure. Norths however did take advantage and squeezed past the Guyra defence to win the game.
