Junior Soccer

20th May 2025

The Under 6 Phantoms all put in a great effort this weekend against the Norths Red Tigers who had a couple of experienced players. The Phantoms all tried hard in defence and stopped a few goals. We also did some great dribbling and kicking, just like we practiced at training! We’re looking forward to having a home game this weekend!
Under 6 Caspers had a great game on Saturday, they were down a player so played for the full game and gave it their all. They put up a great defence against the Walcha team and are improving every week with their teamwork.
The Under 7 Spooks made the journey to Armidale for their second matchup of the season against a very strong TAS Blue Under 7 team. Right from the start, both teams played hard and showed a lot of energy. The Spooks showed great defence, making TAS work hard for their win. A big improvement on their first meeting. Oscar had supporters on the edge of their seats with his three very close attempts at goal. All players had a great game.
Under 8 Goosebumps played North Armidale Pirates in a great game to watch from both teams. Thomas and Orlando had great games as goalkeepers in each half and both Vinnie and Eli had good games in defence. After three games the team is playing some fantastic soccer.
The Under 10 Guyra Phoenix played a very strong Walcha team in Armidale this week.
We played a little frantic with not a lot of ball going our way. We had our defence working hard through the back, attackers and goalkeepers trying their very best. Team scored a lovely goal in the 1st half but Walcha coming away with the win, leaving us a little deflated. Team still working out some field positions on the bigger field, but I have faith in this little team. Bring on next week!
The Under 12s took on Souths in Armidale this week. With numbers limited this week we had some extras from the 14s helping out. Souths took the lead early which kicked the Guyra team into action. The Guyra team started to knock the ball around and play some great football. Halftime score 2-2. Guyra came out strong in the 2nd half and were unlucky not to capitalise on some scoring opportunities. End score was 5-3 to Souths with our goal scores being. Peter Grills 1, and Flynn McFarlane 2 goals. Standouts this week and there were so many to pick from. Harry up front playing a very hard fought game. Miles in the backs had a great game. Chaise and Cruz in the mid field. Unlucky to not win but well played by all.
The Under 14s followed the 12s game against DK side.  With some tired bodies from school sports and the previous game the team started strong and matched the intensity of the DK side. However they soon went down two goals before Zac Raper landed one for Guyra. But the score blew out in the second half ending up 7 to 1 in favour of DK. The team is looking forward to playing at home this week along with all the other junior sides.
