Vets Golf and Men's Bowls

Vets Golf
Last Tuesday the 3rd we played our monthly stroke event. A great round by Colin Mulligan seen him shoot a very impressive 77 off the stick to come in gross winner. Also impressive was Wal Chapman scoring 66 nett to win the nett event. Colin also won the putting with just 25. NTPs went to Greg Constantine twice and the third to Paul Redden.
On Thursday a good contingent of men and lady vets travelled to Uralla for the fourth round of the pennants. We managed to come third as a team in a large field of about 115 players. We are still in overall 3rd place heading into the last round in Glen Innes on Thursday the 19th.
Whilst Uralla and Walcha look to be fighting for the victory Guyra is still in with a slim chance. A few great scores for Guyra individuals though with Don Campbell getting a win with 41 points. Mick Cox was a runner up with 38 points. Scott Mendes and Belinda Lenehan both got a NTP with Belinda top scoring for the Guyra ladies with 37 points. Wendy George was the lucky raffle winner. Next Tuesday is our individual stableford event.

Guyra has continued its strong run in the pennants competition with a convincing 56–36 victory over Uralla, claiming 9 and a half to a half point. John McIlwain won 27–18 win, David Wilcox won 24–13 and David Kennedy had a draw.
With two games remaining in the competition, Guyra sits comfortably on top of the ladder on 37 points, ahead of Glen Innes (20), Armidale (19) and Uralla (4).
Guyra will face Armidale this Saturday at Guyra, with play scheduled to begin at 12.45pm.
