Senior Soccer

12th Aug 2025

Senior soccer teams have also seen limited play over the past few weeks, but when third grade took to the field against the top of the table Glen Innes side but they were missing nothing but a bit of match fitness. With returning stars and injuries rested it was nearly a full strength Caspers side.
It took 20 minutes for the first points of the game which came from Angus Shepherd giving Guyra a one nil lead. It looked like they would take that to the half time break until Glen managed one in the 43rd minute of the first half.
The break did Guyra a favour and shortly after Sammy landed in the back of the net for Guyra. From there they controlled the play and Guyra possession overwhelmed the Glen Innes team and went on to score another three times in the game.
That’s not to say Glen didn’t have their chances with Guyra keeper Damien Hutton having a great game and keeping them out. He went on the take 3 points this week with the 2 points going to Angus Shepard and the 1 to Sammy.
The 4th grade side played East Armidale in Guyra on the weekend. It was a much closer contest given the position of each team on the ladder. The deciding factor in the game was players from different grades filling in for Easts. Like always the Guyra side played well in patches but were let down by a lack in concentration or a wayward pass. That seen East Armidale take home the win.
Three points this week to Noah Brennan who got Guyra on the scoreboard this week two to Bryn Archbold and one to Archie Jackson.
This coming weekend sees an Old Boys day at the grounds with a bar and Canteen operating. The club would love to see as many spectators as possible to cheer on the sides. Seniors kick off at 1pm and juniors all play in Guyra from 9.30. Then join us back and the Royal Hotel for live music and a Black and Gold theme night.
