In the best game the Guyra 4th grade side has played all year, the team went down to the always solid DK dads team. Guyra had the run of the game for most of the first half with an unlucky “tripping” penalty in the box for DK to open the scoring. The score at the break being 2 to 0 for DK, but the Guyra side was right in the game.
The second half seen several chances go just wide of the posts or ball pinball around in the goals and still miss. The game ended up 4 to 0 for DK with the points going to Brett (3) for playing all over the field and a big effort this weekend. Robert (2) for consistency in the game against a much younger and faster strikers. Finally Noah Brennan (1) who gave it his all and would go on to play big minutes over three games for this particular day.
The 3rd Grade side also faced DK and started the game with an own goal from DK within the first two minutes for an early Guyra lead. The score was levelled in the 15th minute. The game was even then until the start of the second half when Adam Litherland found the net from out wide to take a 2 to 1 lead. This was levelled up by DK soon after.
Time beat the side in the end with the ending in a 2 all draw. The 3 points this week went to Tom Lockyer who backed up and played all 180 minutes across both the 4th and 3rd grade games, 2 points to Sujit who worked hard in the middle and 1 point to Charlie. This weekend the play continues with Guyra at home against Inverell and Westside at home from 1pm.
