Men’s Bowls
Saturday September 12th saw two Club Championship games contested.
In Club Triples: John Jackson, Geoff Reeves and Wayne Reeves played Robert Walls, Ian Jacobs and Mallie Walls. Both teams started off exchanging shot for shot. At 3 shots all John and his team then opened a slight lead, one that did not last long. At a 9 shot to 4 lead John and his team fell into hole this enabled Robert and team to not only close the gap but open a handy lead of their own. John and his team were unable to close the gap despite a late charge. Robert and his team were successful in winning 28 shots to 15 shots over 21 ends.
The other game was a Major Singles Semi Final: Dan Kennedy played Andrew Sparke. With the form Dan was in this looked another win coming up but Andrew soon showed that he was not to just fill his commitments but he was there to play. By the 7th end Andrew had opened a handy lead 8 shots to 1 shot. Dan won the next three ends closing to within 3 shots. Andrew again rallied and advanced his lead to again lead by 6 shots, Dan fought back however the bird had flown and Andrew held his nerve stringing together 6 ends. By this time Andrew held a 30 shot to 13 shot lead and only wanting 1 shot to take victory. Dan won the next two ends and holding on the next end Andrew played the shot of the day trailing the jack to go on to victory 31 shots to 17 shots.

Vets Golf
Most of the large field of 16 players were frustrated as they competed in a Four Ball Multiple. The exceptions were Mick Shiner and Chris Newberry who easily took out the day with 77 points. The runners up with 66 points were Don Campbell and Len Stanley.
Nearest the pins went to Len Stanley the 7th, Don Campbell the 10th and Wal Chapman the 18th.
With the much improved weather we hope the higher numbers will continue.
Our elimination round to choose our Four Ball teams to represent Guyra in the NEVGA Four Ball championships will be held on September 29.
