Finals bound for the Caspers

Caspers 3rd Grade side earn top spot and will play in the finals this weekend
01st Sep 2026

Guyra under 14s finished their season last weekend falling one win short of making the finals. The DK side proved too strong in a close encounter where Guyra was unable to capitalise on their chances and DK converted all of their’s.
The team should be extremely proud of what they have accomplished this year, coming so close in a division that frequently had the size and age advantage over our younger players. Thank you to all the helpers who stepped in and coached on Saturdays and run the sideline bench.
The rest of the Junior teams play their last games this weekend at home, afterwards we will celebrate with the junior presentations and a BBQ lunch.

It was terrific weather for the clash with Westside this past weekend. 4th grade started the afternoon in what was their last game for the season. Results may not have gone their way this year but the fighting spirit was there every game.
Saturday's game saw them take on top of the table Westside. The highlight of the match was Guyra's only goal off the boot of Eunice Blair who has been playing for a lot of years and with this her maiden goal. Everyone put in and pressured Westside on a number of occasions but the experienced opposition never seemed to miss a goal when they had a chance, winning the game easily.
The 3rd grade side took the field looking to cement their spot at the top of the ladder and earn a major semi-final. Westside were no push-overs and with every game in the division played the Caspers knew they had to start strong.
That's exactly what they did, the game was very tight neither team was able to take an advantage until the 28th minute when Sammi broke through the front for Guyra's opening goal. Westside had their chances going into the break with a vital save in goal from Damo and tight defence holding off the Westside advances.
The score was 1-0 at half time in favour of the home side and it wasn't until the last quarter of the game where Guyra really pushed home and advanced the score rapidly. The first from a returning Tyson B, then it was the best goal of the season, a cross from the right hand side from Matt S to a rampaging Adain B in the middle who smacked it in.
A penalty awarded to Angus S seen a dot shot put away and the icing on the cake was the experienced Adam L putting one into the back of the net from the left hand side of the field.
The score ended up 5 nil, the question was would that be enough to earn top spot?
As the results from other matches came through, Guyra soon worked out they had done enough to earn them top spot and a home final this weekend. We hope to see a good crowd to cheer lads on and get them into the Grand Final. The game will kick off at 3pm at the sport and recreation grounds.
