Men’s Bowls

There were three games of Club Championships played over the weekend. In Club Pairs Col Stanley and David Lyes played Geoff Reeves and Wayne Reeves. Col and David raced away to an early lead, leading 18 shots to 6 shots by end 15. This score didn’t worry Geoff and Wayne they set about closing the gap and this they did closing to within 5 shots, but Col and David found their mojo again and went on to win 23 shots to 14 shots over 21 ends.
The second Club Pairs was between the teams of John McIlwain and Anthony Bull who played Barry Presnell and Andrew Sparke. In this game John and Anthony were in control from the first bowl and despite Barry and Andrews best effort John and Anthony took the victory 32 shots to 9 shots over 21 ends.
The other game was an Open Singles contest between John Jackson and Ian Jacobs. Despite an extended layoff John did not seem to have lost his ability to play bowls. He took control early and did not let Ian into the game at any stage. John went on to a convincing win over 23 ends.

Midweek Golf

Teams doubled their points this week, with only one team having six players put their scores in and earning 2 extra points. Lots more golfers on the course this week with the sunny weather. Top scorers this week are Logan Beechey 26, Emma Vidler 25, Dean Mitchell and Vicki Reeves 23, Jim Betts and Derek Smith 22. Some good scores this week.
We haven’t finalised the finish date yet, depends if we have any more wet weeks and cannot use the course. Looking at end of March or early April at this stage. Flight Centre Armidale have kindly agreed to sponsor the Midweek individual winner with a discount travel voucher for $500(terms and
Conditions apply). There are quite a few contenders who have played every week and their scores have been adding up.
