Juniors kick off year with a home game

06th May 2025

Under 6 Guyra Caspers had a cracker start to the season on Saturday against TAS tigers. They all played so well and worked together to score three goals, I can’t wait to see how they continue to improve this season.
The Under 6 Phantoms all played their first ever game of soccer on Saturday morning and we all had an absolute blast! We started the game running straight at goal, albeit the wrong one, and didn’t stop running for the rest of the game. It was a real goal-a-thon against the Norths Red Pandas, and ended up being about 1000 all draw. We can’t wait to do it all again next week!!
The Under 7 Spooks played a strong TAS team, Roy, Jack, Oscar, Fletcher and Frazier had a great first game of the season. Our team showed great sportsmanship and resilience. We are looking forward to a fun season of soccer.
The Under 8 Goosebumps played well for the first game of the season a big thank you to Elinor, Haidee, and Eli who played for Armidale City to help them out as they were very short on players.
Phoenix 10s played very well against TAS on Saturday. Being our first game back with new players, bigger field and limited training, I was very impressed.
Under 12s Soccer season has kicked off this weekend with the Guyra side taking on Armidale west side. This team has moved up to the big sized field this season for the majority of them this was their first time playing on it. They started well with some nice back and forth play before a combination of passing found Oskar Laing in front of the goals which he put away.
The back end of the first half saw Westside score two unanswered goals. Second half started well but tired legs and some inexperience let Wests score two more goals to round the final score out to 4-1 to Wests.
Top performers this week were. Jack Marshall in defence, Matthew Sauer in defence and Harry McRae up front fought hard all game.
The Under 14s took on TAS White in the first game for the season. With a new coach and new players the team started slow finding their rhythm slowly in the first half.
It was back and forth for most of the first half with a few goal scoring opportunities until Charles Drew opened the scoring for Guyra to be 1 to 0 at half time.
The second half was a different story the new look Guyra team breaking the game wide open with a corner from George Hope,  a shot from outside the box from Taharn Purvis, a cross at the front from Taharn to Flynn McFarlane all finding the back of the net for Guyra to run away 6 to 0 winners.
