The Under 6 Caspers played ACWFC Joeys on Saturday. It was a close game with both teams scoring a number of goals. The Caspers showed some great skill when attacking as well as some strong defence. Everyone played well together and enjoyed the game.
Under 7 Spooks had a strong game against DK. Our team are working so well together and starting to put strategies together as a team. Some really great defence from our team and some great getaways with runs down the field by every player. Go Spooks!
Under 8 Goosebumps played TAS White this week, the team were down 2-0 after 10 minutes but regained the lead and went on to win convincingly. James, Jackson and Fraser were top contributors this week. Well done to the whole team.
Under 10s played against Westside and it was a close game. You can see the training starting to pay off the team’s works together. Their passing skills keep building every weeks leading to more goals. Great work Under 10s
Under 14s played the Inverell based DK side. It was a close match with the lead swapping a couple times ending in a 3 all draw. Chaise and Harry played extremely well up front and so did George in the goal keeper position.
4th grade kicked off the senior games against Westside on the mini senior field at Harris Park. The Westside team sit tops of the table but Guyra ,looking to build some momentum going into ladies day this weekend, didn’t let that worry them.
It wasn’t long before the experienced Westside team took control and landed the opening goal. It was a dominant performance from Westside to cement their place at the top with Guyra only goal coming from a penalty in the first half after that it was all one way traffic to Westside, Guyra just couldn’t match the experience of the older side.
3rd grade game was a different story with it being a much more even match. Matt Simpson opened the scoring off a corner eleven minutes into the match. This was soon followed two minutes later with Normi providing some spark through the centre landing a goal. Taking the score to 2 nil.
Westside took advantage of a lapse in concentration and got one of their own halfway through the first half. The score would remain 2 to 1 to Guyra for most of the game, with either side unable to capitalise on chances provided.
Guyra was a little unlucky in the back end of the second half with an own goal levelling the score with only 10 minutes to go. The guys lifted and piled on the pressure but it was all too late with the game ending in a draw.
Both teams return home this weekend to play North Armidale for ladies day. The weather looks good for a winter’s day get down and support both teams if you can kick-off at 1pm. Afterwards there will be an auction and music at the Royal Hotel.
