Anglers Club

The Guyra Anglers Club Inc. invite everyone to join us Saturday the 7th of March for their AGM, Presentation day and MEGA Raffle.
Join us from 11am at the Guyra Hotel. Past & present members, along with interested people, are invited to come join with us and celebrate the achievements of the regions anglers.

Ladies’ Golf
On Wednesday 26th February Belinda Lenehan won the Stableford event at Guyra with 35 points. Jenny Tierney was runner up with 32 points. Nearest the Pins were won by Jenny Tierney (9th) and Belinda Lenehan (18th). The golfers who travelled to Glen Innes Open Day enjoyed the 4BBB competition. Karen Oehlers and Shona Mulligan were 2nd runners up. Wendy George and Wendy Jackson each won a ball.
Planning is underway for the NEDGA Tournament to be held at Guyra on the 18th, 19th and 20th March. We have our eyes on the prize of the Hardman Honda Jazz, if we score a Hole-in-One on the 18th.
On Wednesday 11th March we will compete in a Stroke and Flag event. The Goodwill Plate will be held concurrently with the first NSW Medal Round. The starter is Jenni Jackson.

Men’s Bowls
With Pennants getting underway at the weekend, no Club Championships were played. Saturday February 29th saw the two Guyra Pennant Teams play at home.
The Guyra No.4 Pennant Team hosted Armidale Ex Services No.4 Pennant Team. In this game Guyra only won one rink but were defeated 9 points to one.
The Guyra No. 7 Pennant Team hosted Armidale City No.7 Pennant Team.
Guyra was more successful in this game, Guyra won two rinks. This result gave Guyra a 9 point to one win.
Sunday March 1st saw the two Pennants travel. The Guyra No. 4 Pennant Team travelled to Moree and were again unsuccessful going down on all three rinks with a 10 point to nil result for Moree.
The No.7 Pennant Team travelled to Glen Innes and were again successful winning two of the three rinks. Giving the Guyra No.7 Pennant Team a 9 point to one win.
Bowlers please take notice of the changes to both Pennant Teams.
The No. 4 Pennant Teams:
Team No. 1: Col Stanley, Mick Shiner, Ian Jacobs and Andrew Sparke.
Team No. 2: John McIlwain, Steven Sole, Robert Walls and Anthony Bull.
Team No. 3: David Wilcox, John Jackson, Murray Bourke and Paul Johnson.
The above No. 4 Pennant Teams will host Inverell RSM Saturday March 7th.
The No. 7 Pennant Teams:
Team No. 1: Scott Campbell, Boyd Stanley, Mallie Walls and David Lyes.
Team No. 2: Barry Walls, Robert Moore, Cameron Peardon and Wayne Reeves.
Team No. 3: Barry Presnell, Barry Campbell, Mark Swain and Ken Jones.
The Guyra No. 7 Teams will host Walcha Saturday March 7th.
Both teams will commence play at 12.45pm with a roll up
Reserves are: Geoff Reeves, Evan Sole and Chris Kliendienst.
There will be a Pennant Roll Up on Thursday March 5th at 6.00pm for all Pennant players.

There is an event coming in May and that is a Major/Minor Pairs game, there is a sheet on the notice board so put your team up if you would like to take part in this event

Midweek Golf
There are just two weeks to go to the end of midweek, which finishes on Sunday March 15th.
The Guyra Bowling & Recreation Club will put on a sausage sizzle at 5pm on the 15th to mark the end of the midweek competition.
The major winners will be announced at the golf presentation night later in the year but we have some other prizes to give out on Sunday afternoon. Hope to see you all there.
Last week’s highest point score went to Robert Moore with 22 points. Robert has a voucher for $20 to collect at the bar.
Next in line went to Pip White, Adam Brennan and Taylor Brennan with 21 points.
Next week, our last week of midweek, we play for double points.
