The Super Spuds took advantage of an under-manned Moree side to run up a big score at the New Red Hill on Sunday.
Archie Dowden was the biggest profiteer as he ran in four of Guyra’s 13 tries in a 70-14 win.
Luke Allsopp opened the scoring for the Spuds when he took a short line-dropout and stepped past the defence for a 4-nil lead.
Dowden scooted over for his first from dummy half after a bust by Angus Brazier and Riley Campbell ran in the next try just a minute later after Billy Youman broke through and offloaded.
Rave Brazier booted both goals for a 16-nil score.
Moree hit back with a try of its own before Dowden ran it on the last and slid over for his second.
Billy Youman then got in on the act with two tries in succession close to halftime.
The first was set up by some goods runs from Tahmani Landsbrough and Campbell, but in between the Spuds went down to 12 men when Harrison Dowden was binned and Moree scored again.
Youman then ran his second in after the halftime siren and the Spuds went to the break-up 32-10.
In the second half the scoring continued with Samuel Briggs, Landsborough, Matt Sisson, Rave Brazier and Garth Walls getting on the try-scorer’s list, while Archie Dowden added two more to his tally.
The Rangs posted one more of their own to complete the scoring.
Harrison Dowden was chosen as players’ player and earnt two club best and fairest points while Youman (3) and Walls (1) took the other points.
Earlier the Spudettes put up a good fight before going down 28-10.
After the Rangs scored three tries early in the first half, Guyra matched the visitors for the rest of the game.
Kayla White scored a great try to get the Spudettes on the board, stepping her way past three defenders and beating the fullback for the try.
She also converted for a 18-6 score.
Moree scored first in the second half but only after a Paige Vickery break almost led to a Guyra score.
The Boomies added another to take a 28-6 lead but the Spudettes finished the game well.
A penalty inside the Moree 10m zone gave Guyra a good chance and Taylor Waters took advantage with a close-range try to finalise the scoring, although a late chance saw Ella Clews break down the sideline before being called back right on fulltime.
White was voted players’ player and scored one club point, while Waters took the three and Clews two.
Guyra teams have a few weeks before a trip to Tingha.
