Men’s Bowls
The Guyra No.4 Pennant team travelled to North Tamworth Saturday March 13th to play round 4. The Guyra team was not used to slow greens and as a result they struggled at first letting North Tamworth get off to an early lead. After 41 ends were played Guyra was behind by 20 shots. Score being 30 shots Guyra and 50 shots to North Tamworth, it was at this stage that the Guyra boys had worked out the pace of the greens but the lead was substantial. With still 22 ends to play the Guyra team as a whole unwilling to just lie down showed that they were not a pushover, with guile and determination they fought back and with only a couple of ends to play looked as though they had the finish line in their sights. They gave it their all but the task was just too great and they fell short. The final score was 66 shots to North Tamworth and 60 shots to Guyra over 63 ends.
Steven Sole’s team went down by 3 shots 19 to 16, John McIlwain’s team went down by 2 shot. 24 to 23, David Wilcox’s team also went down by 2 shots 23 to 21. All games were over 21 ends.
Final score Guyra were defeated 10 nil.
Comments: from where I stood as Manager the whole team represented Guyra with pride they all stood up when it mattered. Well done boys.
