Caspers take on Demon Knights

13th May 2025

Caspers 3rd grade hosted an undefeated Demon Knights squad which was yet to concede a goal. The game started at a frantic pace with Guyra slowly winning the grind.
Midway through the first half a brilliant delivery from Tyson Burey resulted in a goal box scramble. The ball eventually fell to Sammy’s feet and he slotted it into the bottom corner to make the score one nil. This seemed to open the floodgates for Guyra and they soon found themselves 3-0 up and in control with goals to Tyson Burey and Lachie Bogart.
The second half kicked off and Guyra knew that they needed to start quick and not let Demon Knights back into the match. Early on Guyra received a free kick about 45m out from the Demon Knights goal and Tyson ‘Lattrell Mitchell’ Burey decided to have a shot which never looked like missing to make it 4-0.
DK then clicked into gear and scored two quick goals to put the match in the balance. A great defensive display from Guyra’s backline and a tirelessly working midfield made sure that they didn’t get any closer.
The final score ended at 4-2 for a great win for the Caspers who head to Armidale to play Westside and attempt to make it three on the trot.
Points this week were Tyson Burey taking the 3, a great defensive game from Tristan Brown taking the 2, and Blake Handebo taking the 1.
The Caspers 4th grade started the afternoon in Guyra in what is always a good benchmark for the team when playing a very experienced DK dad team. The early going of the first half saw a tight contest with DK running in one goal, but Guyra creating plenty of chances that just missed goals. Then DK used some substitutions and the speed that brought saw the score blow out to 4 to 0 at half time.
The second half was a much improved performance from the team and will be hopefully the form to take with them Armidale next weekend. The backs muscled up and midfield showed their passing ability to create opportunities for the forwards with a header from Jake Tibbs only missing by a foot. A long range goal from DK was the only score in the second half to end the afternoon at 5 to 0.
