Spuds day to forget at Inverell

18th May 2026

The Super Spuds had a day to forget at Inverell with all three sides falling to the home side on Saturday.
Facing the reigning A grade premiers, the Spuds had trouble handling the bigger Hawks forwards and soon the home side had a 28-nil lead.
It wasn’t all one-way traffic, but Guyra’s chances to score all ended in an error and Inverell counter-attacked.
Eventually some penalties gave the Spuds a chance and they scored through Archie Dowden just before halftime.
In the second half Inverell piled on the points to win it 64-4 and send the Spuds to the bye in dire need of a break to re-set.
Dowden was players’ player and earnt three club points, while Seb Pianko (2) and Hugo Brazier (1) received the other points.
In the league tag the Spudettes found the Hawks too slick and conceded four tries in each half to go down 42-nil.
Kayla White was players’ player and scored two club points, Ella Clews was awarded three points and one went to Bella Farrugia.
The reserves also found Inverell too quick in the first half with four tries setting up a 22-nil halftime score.
Guyra’s best chance saw a would-be DJ Patterson try called back for a forward pass.
Trent Mendes eventually put the Spuds on the board with a try and Anthony Dittman converted, but in the end it was a 36-6 win for the Hawks.
Dittman was voted players’ player and took the three points, Angus Brazier took the two points and Luke Allsopp one.
Guyra will regroup during the bye this weekend before travelling to Moree to face the Boomerangs.
