The two Guyra teams had their first weekend apart with 4th Grade playing in Armidale against DK dads, and 3rd Grade in Guyra playing Westside White. The 4th grade team had a minor injury riddled game which seen them play a man down for 15 minutes. A few mistakes and the numbers advantage seen DK go ahead for a 2 to nil half time lead. Guyra never gave up and hit back with the goals to Clem and Archie J, this brought the score to 2 all. DK had to send in the reinforcements off a large bench to slow Guyra’s charge. This brought about two goals to DK, one from a dubios call that led to a penalty shot. In a never die game for Guyra they took it right to the wire with Tom L scoring in the last minute. Another five minutes and the result may have been different but DK won on the day 4 to 3.
The 3rd Grade team looked to take a win at home against the University Westside team. It was the first real challenge of the season for the Guyra side who have had the speed and teamwork advantage over sides in previous weeks. Westside were well coordinated and had the speed advantage in most positions. It was an exceptional game for the backs and keeper to keep Guyra in the game. It was a rough start after a penalty led to a direct kick in the opening minutes and a 1 nil score. This brought about a positional change with workhorse Ash H jumping into the backs after playing the full game in goals in the 4th grade game. Two goals to Guyra weren’t enough to pull back the lead and trailed all game. The last 15 minutes got messy with a number of penalties from both sides. Westside took the win 5 to 2 in the end, and Guyra will look to rebuild in Inverell this weekend.

The Under 6 Caspers had a great game on Saturday against North’s Red Rhinos. We have some very eager new players and they are starting to work well together as a team. Lots of shots were taken at the goal and there was some very good defence for a young group. Well done team!
The Under 6 Phantoms had their first home game this weekend, hosting a young Souths FC team. The Phantoms were at full strength, with Lani Vidler returning and Huxton Brazier making a spectacular debut and kicking a few goals. The whole team played well, scoring some terrific team goals and getting back with some excellent defence. The Phantoms also showed great sportsmanship, allowing Souths a bit of space to get into the game as well, making it more enjoyable for all involved. Great job Phantoms!
Under 7 Spooks had a great game, they are a completely new team this year and are learning to work together as well as new skills. Looking forward to the 2026 season for this team.
The Goosebumps continued their good form this week with a win over TAS. It was great to see everyone turn up for the game and give it their best. Fletcher and Orlando scored a few goals each and Jackson supported well in defence. Great work team.
The Under 10s played a great game against TAS, they are picking up on passing and working as a team to score goals, great game by everyone in this big team.
Under 14s played East Armidale who looked to improve on their big win over TAS. Guyra was looking to get their first win up for the season.  It was a close game all the way through with both teams evenly matched. It was 2 to 1 at half time with Guyra in the lead. In a goal for goal game Guyra always just managed to keep their head in front and took the game win at 4 to 3.
