Vets Golf
Tuesday February 11th saw the second attempt at running our Pennants. The back nine was open this time and a lot of work had been put in to get the course to a playable state. Although rain was threatening, the play was completed without anyone getting wet.
77 players came from Glen Innes, Armidale, Uralla, Walcha and of course Guyra to compete in an Individual Stableford as well as for the best team of 7.
The overall result was that Guyra won the day and is leading Armidale by 15 points towards the year’s competition. The scores were Guyra 238, followed by Armidale 223, Walcha 209, Glen Innes 198 and finally Uralla 162.
The Ladies winner was from Glen Innes, Julie Dunn with a score of 32 followed by Cheryl McDonald on 29.
A Grade men’s winner was Owen Presnell from Walcha with 38 and runner up Guyra’s Richard Burey 37.
B Grade was taken out by R. Lewers from Armidale with 36 closely followed by Kim Shaw from Guyra on 33 on a count back from Walcha’s Col Berry.
C Grade was also closely contested with Peter Mulligan, Guyra coming out on top on a count back from Armidale’s John Maher who also was on a count back beating Len Stanley from Guyra. All shot a score of 30.
The next round in our Pennants will be at Armidale on Tuesday February 25th. It is a busy time for Vets Golf with the Glen Innes open on yesterday and the Guyra Open Days the 2nd and 3rd March.

Midweek golf
Another week with minimal golf played due to the rain. We have almost got enough players to record the scores that have come in, just need a few more this week. Hopefully this week everyone else will be able to play.
Don’t forget there is a great prize for the individual winner.
