Caspers one up and one down against DK

26th May 2026

It was the first bit of sun for the day when fourth grade kicked off the afternoon against DK Dads. It was a rematch from two weeks ago but the score line looked very different. The last two weeks have seen fourth grade play with little luck all the bad bounces going Guyra’s way.
DK opened the scoring midway through the first half to post a second goal in quick succession, Guyra muscled up and held off DK attack for the rest of the half to go to the break 2 to nil down. DK came out strong quickly putting another into the net.
Guyra didn’t get deflated and held their own throughout the entire match but were overwhelmed by the experienced DK Dads side. The game ending in a 5 to nil win the DK team.
The 3rd grade side looked to get back in the winner’s circle after a narrow loss the week before to Inverell.
They played DK in Guyra as well, DK looked to continue on from the previous game, be it with different players, and opened the scoring in fourteenth minute.
Guyra wasn’t deterred and stuck to their game plan, this seen Charlie White land the equaliser.
Guyra had a major injury in the middle of the first half which meant the rest of the team dug deep playing big minutes.
Despite desperate calls for an out wide cross, mid field Malla ignored the calls to land Guyra second goal from forty metres out.
The 2 to 1 score remained for the rest for the match despite numerous raids from DK who were continually turned away by the Guyra defence. The Casper’s were unlucky in the greasy conditions not to get a goal in the second half after several attempts.

The Under 6 Phantoms played at home this weekend against the DK Knights, which, when you think about it, is actually the Demon Knights. Taking on the Double Knights, the Phantoms put together their best team performance yet, with all the kids having a really great game. Acton Lither land scored his first ever goal, with a celebration to match, and Edmond Smith then scored his first goal of the season. Both boys then followed up with a second goal each. Huxton Brazier had a fantastic game, scoring a few goals but he also often passed the ball to his teammates to make sure everyone got involved and had a fun game.
The Under 6 Casper’s played East Armidale Green. The opposition were short on players so a couple of our team volunteered to help them out! There were a lot of goals scored by the Casper’s who ran away with the game in the end. The kids had a fun game and are improving on their passing and team work every week.
Under 7 Spooks had a great game this week, the north’s team were a very strong side but our little team tried their hardest and showed great teamwork. The Goosebumps played against Armidale Echidna‘s this week. The boys came away with a win continuing their good form, with some clever passing and great teamwork a real feature. Jack and James defended well whilst Oscar had all round great game. Well done team.
The Under 10 Phoenix hosted North Armidale on the weekend and put in another fantastic performance to stay undefeated for the season. This little team is improving every week not only with their ball skills but also their team work. Keep up the great work!
The Under 14s team looked to bounce back after last week’s loss. They took on one of the North Armidale sides in Guyra. It was a close contest or the first fifteen minutes until Zac Raper broke the Norths defence with the first goal. This was followed up by a Norths equaliser just after half time to put the pressure back on the home team. Zac again stepped up with another goal, and a final one from Oscar Laing sealed the match 3 to 1 for the home team. The team’s skills are building every week and this coming weekend look to build their momentum at home again.
