President’s Day for women bowlers

On Tuesday 27th February, Guyra Womens’ Bowls held our annual Day for President Laurel Betts. A wonderful day was enjoyed by many teams from the region, including Inverell, Uralla, Walcha, Bendemeer, Bingara, Delungra, Glen Inness, two teams from Armidale, and the District team, with apologies from Katingal, Vacey McIntyre, Betty Charter, and Phyllis Dade. One game of 16 ends were played, followed with a very enjoyable lunch from our new chefs, Gerry and Sando.
The overall winners from the day were Laverne Apthorpe, Elfie Brunner, Pam McFadyen from the Armidale Ex-Services Bowls Club with Jill Ewen, Dot Jackson and Colleen Gooley coming runners up. Both Guyra teams had wins on the day, with Laurel Betts, Leis Gordon and Jenny O’Neill having a close win over the District Team.
Many thanks to Vu from the Guyra Chemist for the donation of a lovely prize, and to Costas Tomato Farm for a punnet of cherry tomatoes for each player.
Womens’ Bowls are held every Tuesday currently at 10am if anyone is interested in joining. All new players are very much welcomed!
