Caspers win one, draw one against Glen Innes

06th May 2025

The Guyra Caspers travelled to Glen Innes to take on last year’s grand finalists the Highlanders. Guyra 3rd grade started strong, with Braith Kliendienst scoring a great free kick from just outside the box, followed by Angus Shephard delivering a brilliant corner which returning player Tyson Burey made sure found the back of the net, making it 2-0.
Glen Innes then scored a goal against the run of play making the score 2-1 at half time. The second half began and Glen Innes scored mid-way through making it 2-2. The Caspers then fought hard and showed great defensive resilience.
The game was in the balance before Ash Holt provided a great delivery to Man of the Match Adam Litherland who delivered a fabulous finish, putting Guyra 3-2 up which was the final score.
Three points this week went to Adam Litherland, 2 points to Braith Kliendienst and the 1 point to the ever reliable Charlie White.
Guyra’s 4th grade kicked of the day in Glen in a cleaner more confident game as a team. Glen Innes opened the scoring but it didn’t deter the Guyra side which went back to what they have been doing at training.
Noah Brennan opened the scoring for Guyra with his speed going past the Glen defence. The second scorer for Guyra was Archie Jackson in his return game after missing last year’s season.
Guyra took the lead in the second half 3 to 2 with Samundra Adhikari putting it away with assistance from Noah. Unfortunately Guyra couldn’t hold out some fresh Glen Innes legs who scored again for the game to end a 3 all draw.
Three points this week go to Robert Waters, 2 to Noah Brennan and 1 to Lincoln Brown.
This coming weekend the juniors play away games, with the Casper senior sides returning home to face Demon Knights in both grades.
