Senior Soccer
The Caspers took on Inverell in both grades in Guyra last Saturday. Fourth grade were looking to restore some pride in the rematch, with the first game blowing out to Inverell. This game did that showing how far the team has come and bonded since the early season game.
Guyra defended very well in the first half keeping the opposition to two goals, numbering up on key Inverell players and scrambling back to help out. The second half shaped to be a blow out with Inverell extending their lead to four in quick succession after the break.
A cross from out wide rebounded off the post and keeper to see Tom L nudge it in to get Guyra first goal. There were a number of shots that just missed from the Guyra team in a short period where Guyra looked on top. Inverell got one back on Guyra to go 5 to 1 but as the game ended a run from Mitchell H seen another Guyra goal (his first for the season) to end the game 5 to 2.
The 3rd grade side looked to overtake Inverell on the ladder with a win, but knew it would never be easy. They welcomed back players who have been out the last few weeks, slotting back in seamlessly for another soild Guyra performance.
The first half was a close and tight fought half with neither team able to get the advantage despite a number of attempts from the Caspers. The swarming Inverell defence seen the mid field unable to maintain any possession forcing the team wide. Half time was nil all and shortly after the break Normi M caught the Inverell side out and scored for Guyra.
Big games for Blake H in the backs and a sick Angus S in the mid field who both took home point this week seen the Caspers hold out Inverell winning by the narrow margin. This coming Saturday will see both teams face Souths where a win for 3th grade will see them take the top spot on the ladder.

Junior Soccer
The Under 7s were overwhelmed by the opposition on Saturday. They did have periods of success leading to goals, brought about by much improved teamwork and passing developed through the season.
The Under 8 Goosebumps played Norths Goalseekers this week. The team played very well with plenty of passes and shots at goals. The boys scored four goals to win the game. Fraser scoring a few with Jack, Jacob and Jackson playing great games. Well done team.
The Under 10s played in Armidale over the weekend in their most resilient effort of the season. Cooper W continued his streak getting Guyra’s goal, but in a very evenly matched game Norths struck back with luck and bounce of the ball on their side. It continued the same with neither team getting the upper hand and playing out a draw. The team is looking forward to the rematch in a few weeks on home turf.
The under 14s played TAS on the weekend, TAS warmed up extremely well and caught the Guyra team off guard in the first three minutes of play scoring off a raid down the left side. This kicked Guyra into gear and an overconfident TAS seen Zac R push through the middle off the kickoff in a tremendous solo effort in the 4th minute to level it up for Guyra. He again scored with some help from the middle for the game to be 2 to 1 at half time. TAS wasn’t out of the game but straight after half time Taharn P broke the TAS side landing another goal. The game was iced off with a late Guyra goal to Oscar L, hopefully the side continues the momentum this weekend against Westside.
