Cricketers hit out at home

Guyra Cricket Clubs 1st grade side hit out at home on the weekend, up against Armidale City/UNE on Ted Mulligan Oval. Guyra won the toss and elected to bat, keen to get runs on the board and give the opposition a good total to chase down.
The team batted out their 45 overs finishing five wickets down for a handy 216. Best with the bat were Joey Ryan (66 not out), Grant Ryan (32) and Kyle Mongta (31). In reply, City/UNE also batted well and only hit the front in the 44th over finishing on 4/219 for the win.Wicket takers were Dean Swaffer (2/46) and Heath Dowsett (1/24), with the fourth wicket a run out.
Guyra’s 2nd grade side headed down the hill to take on Armidale City/ UNE on Bellevue Oval. Winning the toss, City/UNE elected to bat, with Guyra
restricting their innings to 123 for the loss of nine wickets.
Captain Cody Patterson (4/17) was best with the ball, with Cooper Collins, Pete Ahoy , Allan Boney and Brendan Landsborough getting one each.
In reply, Guyra fell short and were all out for just 85 runs in the 24th over. Only Pete Collins (13), Cooper Collins (14), and Adrian Cameron (13 not out) made double figures.
Guyra’s 3rd grade side are still waiting for their season to start after a 1st round forfeit and a bye in the first two rounds.
In junior games the under 11s were the better team making 124 runs in their modified game against Easts Gold, who were restricted to 65 runs by the Guyra bowlers. Billy Ryan (25 ret.) and Christopher Welsh (15 ret.) were the best with the bat and Charles Drew and Billy Ryan taking wickets.
The under 13s also finished on top in their game against Easts. Winning the toss, Easts batted first finishing with 8/80. In reply Guyra made 6/83 with Tommy Mitchell (17 not out), Nayte Foster (17 ret.) and Jack Campbell (10 not out) the best on the day.
