Bowlers take to the greens for annual carnival

Guyra Bowling Club hosted bowlers from across the State for a week of bowls last week for its annual carnival.
The event has been a feature on the calendar for more than 30 years and this year saw around 200 players descend on the town from across the North West, Mid North Coast, Sydney and Queensland.
The carnival started on Tuesday with the women’s triples, with the mixed triples held on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday saw bowlers back on the green for the blue ribbon event, with a full field contesting the Schweppes pairs.
The carnival wrapped up on the weekend with the triples carnival which was played with another full field.
The winners of the Ladies Triples were Ester Hunt, Carmel Ryan and Lyn Burnell from Walcha.
The Mixed Triples was won by the Glen Innes team of Ross Gallagher and Shirley and Peter Hutton.
On Thursday and Friday the Schweppes Prestige Pairs were played with the winners being Mick Pennell and Colin Stanley. Runners up were Mick Studdart and Peter Griffith.
The weekend culminated with Open Triples with the winners being Chris Kliendienst,
Steve Fuller and Todd Fuller. Runners up were Clint Sheldon and Ray and Steve Clarke from the Gold Coast 
On Sunday the 10th December the Brian Vickery ham day will be played, $5 entry fee
In by 11:30 for a 12:30 start, Bowls shirt to be worn , members only.
