Spuds dominate in the wet against Moree

Rave Brazier tries to evade a Boomerangs tackler

The Super Spuds came away from a wet Moree game with a dominant 43-8 victory last Saturday to get their season back on track.
Some early missed chances made way for a Billy Youman try to get the scoring going, before Tommy Ryan also crashed over to give Guyra a 12-4 lead half an hour into the A grade clash.
The best try of the half went to Robert Sisson when he followed a break from Jackson Coote to score under the crossbar and make it 18-4 at halftime, despite a number of near misses that could have resulted in a bigger lead.
Sisson started the second half the way he ended the first with his second try coming from a last tackle power play from the Spuds.
When Ryan also ran in his try double for the day Guyra had a 30-4 lead.
The Boomerangs hit back with a try of their own, but the Spuds were not going to allow them back into the contest and Archie Dowden scrambled over for the next try to make it 36-8.
Guyra’s longest try of the day came near the end when Rave Brazier found space down the left wing and sprinted clear to score from 60m out.
Dowden’s seventh goal of the day made the score 42-8 and then skipper Ben Vidler booted a sneaky field goal in the dying seconds to ice the cake for the Spuds.
Coote was players’ player while Seb Pianko (3), Sisson (2), Ryan (1) and Dowden (1) scored club points.
In the league tag game the Spudettes started slowly and paid the price as Moree ran in four tries early.
Paige Vickery got Guyra on the board with a good solo effort and Astashia Marr converted to make it 22-6.
The Rangs scored again to make the halftime score 28-6 and then crossed twice more early in the second half to push the lead out to 40-6.
Guyra was much more competitive in the last quarter of the game and added a second try when Kayla White broke through and put Vickery away for her double.
White then kicked the goal before the Boomies scored once more to finish it 46-12.
The players voted White as their best while Vickery (3), Matilda Atkin (2) and Rachael Coles (1) received club points.
Following a long weekend bye all three Guyra teams will face Uralla at the New Red Hill on Saturday June 13.
