Men’s Bowls
There is not much to report on this week, until the selectors meet and select the antagonists for the 2019/2020 Club Championship programme.
The weekend saw only one game of Bowls played and that was a Quarter Final of the Major/Minor Pairs.
Steven Sole and Robert Walls played Ian Jacobs and Mallie Walls.
Ian and Mallie held a commanding lead and seemed to have Steven and Robert’s measure leading 13 shots to 3 shots by end 10. But at this stage the wheel seemingly fell off and Steven and Robert picked up their game and reeled off 8 ends in a row as a result they took the lead bye end 16 and by end 16 held a 6 shot advantage. Ian and Mallie regrouped and by end 20 had drawn even, but Steven and Robert went on to win 4 out of the final 5 ends and went on to take victory 23 shots to 20 shots over 25 ends.
Ian and Mallie could only look back and think that this was the game that slipped away.
Bowlers you are invited to read the rules set down for the marking of a Handicap Singles game. These rules were agreed upon at the Annual Bowls Meeting. Match Committee.
