Vets take home the Pennant for 2025

29th Apr 2025

After five rounds in five different towns the Guyra Vets have proven just how versatile they are. Fast greens, slow greens or sand greens we adapt and we have come out the victors.
With a healthy mixture of ladies and men’s vets we went into the final round in Walcha in equal first place with Armidale.
There was over one hundred players from throughout the district and the weather for the first half was atrocious. We held it together though and at the end of the day we finished just 15 points in front of Armidale to bring the pennant home. Congratulations one and all that played in all or any round of our campaign.
It was a fantastic effort. For the final round we were successful in all grades. The ladies had a runner up in each grade with Wendy Jackson getting one and Deb Heffernan getting another.
For the men Michael Jackson won A grade, Jon Cumming won B grade, with Wal Chapman getting the C grade. Linley Ryan, Wendy Jackson and Wal Chapman had NTP or longest drive trophies.
Also an outstanding effort from Scott Mendes winning the overall champion for the five rounds. Brilliant effort. If I have missed anyone my apologies. I will catch up next week.
Last Tuesday’s local winners were Ian Taylor and Len Stanley with Neil Paine and Dave Bearup runners up.
