Ladies’ Golf
Last week a field of 13 ladies played in beautiful weather conditions. The event was a Stableford with Vicki Reeves winning on a countback from Wendy George with 31 points.
Nearest the pin winners were Meg Simpson on the 9th hole, Pip White on the 10th hole and Karen Oehlers on the 18th hole.
This week is the first round of the Ladies Championships to be followed by the second round next week. The event is 27 holes with a 9am start.

Men’s Golf
Last Saturday the club held a 2 person ambrose as a qualifying event for the Keno NSW championships. The winners of the event were Scott Mendes and Peter Presnell with 66¾, runners up were Darrin and Suzanne Towells.
Nearest to the pins were John Prisk on the 7th, Wendy George on the 9th, Bob Constance on the 10th, and Logan Beechey on the 18th.
On Sunday a good field contested an 18-hole stroke for the Landmark trophy. The winner with 71 nett was Chris Newberry with Richard Burey a close runner up.
Nearest to the pins were Ian Taylor on the 7th, Chris Newberry on the 10th, and Darrin Towells on the 18th.
The club championships are being played over the next two weekends and I can’t find a clear favourite in any grade so if you want a chance to go down in history have a go,

Ladies’ Bowls President’s Report
Another year has passed and due to COVID 19 restrictions there has not been a lot of bowls played in 2020. Thank you Bertha for all the jobs you do during the year and also David for helping with the cards etc. for the Ladies Day in the Carnival and President’s Day. Also thank you to all the lady bowlers for their help and support., it is very much appreciated.
Welcome to two new bowlers Wendy & Leis and also welcome back Julie. I hope you all enjoy playing bowls, we now have 12 bowlers. Thank you to the lady bowlers who played in the district games at such a difficult time. We were runners up in the Senior Pairs (Laurel and Jill)) well done ladies.
On the 24th of November we held a Bowls Come and Try Day and fundraiser for Can Assist. 30 people turned up on the day and from all reports everyone had a very enjoyable day. $355 was raised and donated to Guyra Can Assist. I would like to thank the Can Assist ladies for morning tea, the Men’s Bowls for supplying and cooking the BBQ lunch and also Cameron, David and all the lady bowlers for their help on the day. Also thanks to the Guyra Flower Farm for their kind donation of beautiful peonies and IGA for the gift voucher. A big thank you to Cheryl and Jenny for all the work and effort they put into flyers (designing, printing and distributing), the Guyra community and the three Armidale bowlers for supporting the day.
On the 3rd of December 2019 we played in the Ladies Day of the Men’s Carnival and it was a very enjoyable and successful day. Our President’s Day was very successful (24 teams) great support from our district as well as clubs from other districts. Thank you everyone for their help on the day, also Betty Anne and bar staff, Cameron and David, Donna and staff for the lovely meals and anyone else who helped us during the year.
