Junior League withdraws from competition

30th Jun 2020

Guyra Junior Rugby League has decided to withdraw from the Group 19 2020 season. President Gina Lockyer said the decision was not the outcome that they were anticipating, but unfortunately with the current COVID restrictions in place by Armidale Regional Council, they have been left with no choice but to withdraw from the competition.
ARC guidelines are that no more than 20 people can gather at a field/venue at any one time, including coaches/trainers and parents etc. The restrictions make it impossible to successfully enter a competition.
Also, with the season kicking off on July 18, and with no training GJRL have had to take into consideration the duty of care to players. The health and safety of the community also played a major factor in the decision.
In the downtime GJRL will continue to work to ensure they will be back bigger and better next year.
