Lions give juniors a sporting chance

Junior sporting groups in Guyra have received a boost to their bottom line, thanks to the Guyra Lions Club.
Each of the junior sporting codes has an extra $250 to spend, helping to keep the kids on the field.
Lion Geoff Reeves said he has a special affinity for junior sport, having watched his own kids grown up playing in town.
He also knows that it can be an extra burden for parents to find money and that fundraising can be difficult, particularly while COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
Jo Dullaway, representing Guyra Junior Soccer, said that the money will be used to purchase new balls. It comes at a good time as many of their old balls had passed their use by date.
Simon Brown from the Guyra Cricket Club said that they will also put the money towards balls for their Junior teams.
Simon said that balls are the biggest expense for the club and this money is certainly appreciated.
Lions Club President Peter King said that they are always looking to support a good cause and knows that the money will be put to good use for the benefit of junior sport.
