Caspers prepare for top of the table clash

01st Aug 2023

It was a lovely afternoon in Guyra as the second division team lined up to play an enthusiastic Inverell side. The game was back and forth for much of the game with only two mistakes by the Guyra side letting Inverell get the upper hand with two goals.
It has been a pleasure to see the younger members of the side coming into the team and having impact on game.
As the local first grade competition heats up with only three regular season games left before the finals, Guyra took on a very tough opposition from Glen Innes. Guyra was coming off a win over south Armidale in the last round and looked to continue their winning ways.
As the first half progressed it was clear that Glen Innes was going to put up a fight and throughout the first half the Guyra side was dragged away from their normal game by a fast Glen side in the front half of the side.
It was John Kudu that got the first goal for Guyra, and it was then that the Glen side started to falter. With two further goals from Matt Simpson and Braith Kliendienst the Guyra team was on a roll and the momentum couldn’t be stopped running out 3 nil winners.
This week see Guyra 2nds travel to Armidale to face Westside and the Guyra 1st will take on Inverell at home with the winner to go to the top of the table and possibly decide on the location of the semi-final. If you are keen to support kick off will be at 3pm.
