The Super Spuds went down in a high-scoring try-fest at the New Red Hill on Sunday after starting badly against Glen Innes. The Magpies ran in four tries before Guyra knew what hit it.
Archie Dowden eventually pulled one back for the Spuds with a last-tackle try, but all it did was interrupt the Glen scoring as it soon pushed the lead out to 42-4.
Seb Pianko crashed over for Guyra’s second try with a few minutes to go in the half and then Billy Youman pounced on a dropped bomb in the Glen in-goal right on halftime to make it 42-16.
Youman then added his second to start the second half and the score looked more respectable at 42-22.
However, the Magpies halted any comeback with another easy try.
Samuel Briggs-Andrews plunged over for Guyra’s fifth try and Youman finished the sixth for his hat-trick, but at the other end the points kept coming for the visitors as they rounded out a 70-34 win.
Youman (3), Pianko (2) and Dylan Sutton (1) scored club points while Pianko was players’ player.
In the leaguetag the Spudettes also went down heavily, but put up a much better fight than the last time they met the Magpies.
It finished 34-nil this time, down from 60-nil three weeks ago.
Paige Vickery (3), Kayla White (2) and Anna Jackson (1) were the club points winners while Dakota Vickery was voted the best by the players.
Reserve grade had a bye.
This Saturday Guyra travels to Inverell to face the Hawks in all three grades.
