Soccer Club Presentation Day
The Guyra United Soccer Club held their Presentation Day on Saturday at the Guyra Recreation Fields. With great weather and a relaxed atmosphere our Junior and Senior players, coaches and their families came together to enjoy a BBQ lunch and presentation to celebrate the 2019 season.
GUSC President Adam Brennan opened the proceedings with a review of the season. The GUSC fielded 12 Junior teams this year with 123 players across the 6 – 16 age divisions. The Club was also represented by 3 Senior teams in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade. Unfortunately this year none of our Guyra teams made it to the Grand Final however the 14A Ghosts, 12B Spirits and the 1st and 2nd Grade teams made it through to the semi-finals. Two of our junior teams, the 12B Spirits and the Under 9 Vipers, also proudly represented the Club at the Jack Vallance Junior Memorial Carnival in Armidale.
Without our volunteer Coaches the Club would not be able to field these teams so thank you to the following:

This year the Club purchased new jerseys for all 15 teams with the same strip now displayed across all Junior and Senior divisions. This would not have been possible without sponsorship from the following: Major sponsor Royal Hotel Guyra, DRT Logistics, Simpson’s Earthmoving, SA & RA Tibbs, Highland Petfood, Tuckeroo Macadamias, Fourways Service Centre, Lenehan Contracting, Rockvale Farms, Sutto’s Shears and Tony Looker. Thank you also to Chris Yorke from CJ’s Coffee Co. for supporting the Club through his coffee sales at the home games.
The Club also introduced new socks, polo shirts and hoodies this year creating a whole new look for the players and their families. Thank you to Paul Schmude at Sportspower Armidale and to CSM for their assistance.
The GUSC then went on to present the following major Club awards:
The Dave Martin Memorial Shield for the Junior Soccer Team of the Year, awarded to the 12B Spirits.
The award for Outstanding Contribution and Service to Guyra Soccer was awarded to Randy Mulligan and Paul Dullaway. These gentlemen have been a great support to the Club in numerous roles throughout the season and their assistance is greatly appreciated
All junior players received a trophy this year and a player from each team was chosen to receive the Bob Vidler Memorial award. This award recognises a player for demonstrating fair play, sportsmanlike conduct and team spirit. The 12 – 16 age divisions also nominated a Players’ Player to receive a medal. The Senior Divisions were presented with embroidered soccer bags for the following awards in each grade: Coaches Award, Most Consistent, Best and Fairest and Players’ Player. Finally, a massive thank you and congratulations to the new committee this year for a great season: President Adam Brennan, Vice President (Nets and Refs Coordinator) Craig Lockyer, Secretary Nikki Mendes, Treasurer Naomi Mendes, Junior Convener Jo Dullaway, Hayden Raper, Rebecca Montague, Blake Handebo and Matt Simpson.
