It was the very first season for the under 11 Guyra boys team. We started the season with our first game against a very experienced Hillgrove team, consisting of a large number of rep players. This gave our boys a bit of a reality check making it pretty clear that, unlike backyard cricket, we don’t have to play “SNIPPY RUN”.
As our boys progressed through the season, and their training got better and better each week, they started to see some pleasing successes with the bat and ball.
Each lad managed to successfully tick off some very big milestones, from taking their very first wicket to hitting their first boundary.
The final game for their season was played last Saturday, where they took on a full-strength Hillgrove Colts team. Guyra bowled first and they bowled and fielded very well with Rylan Wilson leading the way with 1-9 off 3 overs. The other wicket taker was Matthew Sauer with 1-12.
Guyra fell just 4 runs short in the chase with some excellent batting and partnerships:
Peter Grills hit 23 runs off his 14 balls with 5 boundaries, Flynn McFarlane got 16 runs and Ricky Foster and Rylan Wilson both finished up with 5 runs each.
The final score for the match was 103 for Hillgrove and a very close 99 for Guyra.
Well done on a fine season boys, you all made some incredible progress this year and we look forward to starting again when cricket starts again.
