Junior Cricket round 2

06th Nov 2019

Guyra Under 14 cricketers hit back following a first round loss to claim victory in their second round clash against Walcha/Uralla.
Guyra bowlers struggled for wickets early with the first two wickets coming from runouts thanks to some good fielding from Jack Lockyer and Tahmani Landsborough.
A good spell of bowling by Brendan Landsborough (3 for 10) slowed the scoring and limited the total to 123 off 25 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Going out to bat openers Jack Lockyer (14) and Cooper Collins (13) got the Guyra team off to a solid start with the first wicket falling at 31. The loss of two more wickets with the score on 69, brought Brodi Campbell (49 no) and Brayden Grieve (25 no) to the crease and they steadied the innings to finish the day 3 for 127 to claim their first win of the year.
The under 12s came up against a strong Hillgrove Colts side who set a big total of 6/169 for Guyra to chase. Wicket takers for Guyra were Angus Dullaway 2 for 13, Thomas Brazier 2 for 11 and Henry Youman 2 for 3.
In reply Guyra fell well short of the target and finished their innings 8 for 80. Best with the bat for Guyra were Harrison Brazier (18), Jason Mowbray (18) and Toby Handebo (12).
No results available for the under 10s. This weekend in the under 10s Guyra Red play Hillgrove CSC at Rologas 2 and Guyra Black play Hillgrove Fillies at Guyra Central School.
Under 12s will be up against Uralla/Walcha at Lions Park in Guyra and the Under 14s will play Hillgrove at Newling 2.
