Byron Bay artist helps out the bush

Zimmi Forest will conduct a workshop at My Rural Retreat next week
30th Jul 2019

Zimmi Forest is a fibre artist from Byron Bay who has a passion for sustainability and the environment and she is using this passion to help out in the bush. Zimmi has offered her time and skills to run a workshop at ‘My Rural Retreat’ as her way of helping out in these very challenging times.
‘My Rural Retreat’ is a Guyra based business providing Creative Arts and Health and Well-being workshops. Founder Tina Skipper said that this is a wonderful opportunity for people to leave the farm or take a break from their business and spend some time learning, creating and connecting.
“We’ll be using natural fibres, jutes, and materials such as Guinea Fowl feathers and berries to make a beautiful wall hanging, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Tina said.
“A local business in Guyra, ‘Crop Hair Dressing’ has also kindly donated a care package, full of nourishing hair goodies for all participants to take home and I will be providing delicious wholesome food throughout the day as my way of helping.”
“Being on the land ourselves, my husband and I understand the immense strain everyone is feeling at the moment, we are all holding on for Spring rain,” Tina added. “We are so appreciative of these small acts of kindness.”
Zimmi has been commissioned to create over 100 artworks for public galleries, private clients, hospitals and resorts.”
The workshop will take place on Tuesday, August 6th and there has been an overwhelming response, seeing it booked out in a day. If you’d like to know more about other workshops, including a ‘Wellness Weekend’ in November, which Tina adds ‘we may all desperately need’ you can go online to www.myruralretreat.com.au
