Guyra well represented at NSW Farmers Conference

Guyra farmers Callan Schaefer, Jenni Jackson and Mike Mulligan at the NSW Farmer’s State Conference in Sydney
07th Aug 2019

Guyra branch of the NSW Farmers was well represented at the recent State Conference in Sydney by branch chair Callan Schaefer, Mike Mulligan and Jenni Jackson. Many issues were discussed and voted on. Guyra’s motion re sharing the costs of NLIS tags across the supply chain was defeated whilst their motion on combining a review into the wool levy and Sheepmeat levy was sent to committee for further work. An urgency motion regarding the compulsory use of pain relief in the mulesing process was debated and passed. Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall addressed the conference and was there for two days to network with the delegates and committee chairs which was well received. The theme of the conference was Healthy Farms, Healthy Businesses and Healthy Farmers. As a consequence NSW Farmers are putting a team in this weekend’s City2Surf and supporting the charity RUOK. President James Jackson and CEO Pete Arkle have been in training and plan on running the distance. Mike Mulligan and Jenni Jackson will join the team as walkers.
