Nathan Lane is learning the ropes to a perfect lamb roast
03rd Feb 2026

The 2026 Lamb and Potato Festival has wrapped up as another outstanding success, once again highlighting that this much-loved event is truly powered by community spirit.
Year after year, the festival relies on the dedication of volunteers who generously give their time, energy and skills to ensure everything runs smoothly. Their commitment is the backbone of the event and a key reason for its ongoing success.
A special thank you goes to Anne and Geoff Thrift, who returned once again to oversee the preparation and cooking of the festival’s lamb. Their dedication, consistency and behind-the-scenes hard work have become an essential part of the festival experience, with their efforts ensuring the lamb was cooked to perfection and enjoyed by all.
Special mention to their assistant, nine year old Nathan Lane, who spent part of his school holidays lending a hand and learning the ropes. Now in his fourth year helping with the lamb, Nathan’s enthusiasm, growing skills and willingness to contribute are a wonderful example of community spirit being passed on to the next generation.
From volunteers on the front line to those working quietly behind the scenes, the Lamb and Potato Festival is a true team effort. Thanks to everyone who contributed your generosity is what keeps this event thriving and the community connected.
