The Slam Storm is coming to Guyra

11th Jul 2023

Australian Poetry Slam (APS) is a live literary performance program where the audience decides the champion.
This year Guyra will host one of 60 heats which are being held across the nation.
It will be a great opportunity for slammers to perform for the chance to win a place at the NSW titles and maybe even the National final.
Poets this is your call to ‘write revolutions’. You’ve got two minutes on the microphone to build your momentum to crescendo and be heard. Poets will be chosen by the Guyra audience to head to the NSW Final where they compete for a spot at Nationals.
If you want to learn to turn your moments of “..um” into “momentum”, bring your notebook and voice to the Guyra Slam Wordshop which is being held on Tuesday August 15th, followed by the heat which will be held on Wednesday August 16th.
Be one of a thousand writers who will grab their moment in the spotlight leading to one National Final and a prize worth $20k including publishing and gigs from Byron to Bali and beyond.
Last year, Joanna Yang was crowned the APS National Champion, saying winning the national prize is: “absolutely incredible, this experience is beyond surreal.”
